Job Description
Marketing & Communication takes an integrated approach to strengthening the University of Twente's reputation, creating ambassadors for the university, and most importantly, maintaining and improving the quality of the students and staff who join the university.
The communications officer works primarily with the Centre for Educational Support (CES) to realize the University of Twente's international ambitions. Within CES, the communications officer works specifically with the department of Student Affairs & Services (SAS), which helps new Dutch and international students with applications, admissions, registration, visa applications and accommodation.
Your most important task is to ensure that the communication that is provided for current and prospective Dutch and international students is effective and appealing. You indicate areas for improvement, help colleagues become more communicative, and introduce new initiatives. You are able to work flexibly in a complex organization, and have the ability to motivate your colleagues. You are not afraid to think out of the box in order to achieve results. You act as a linking pin and contribute to important M&C-projects, such as the customer (student) journey and the implementation of CRM.
Other responsibilities are:
Coordinating SAS' internal and external communication and supporting other CES' departments like Career Services, Scholarship Office with communication.
Developing and implementing a yearly marketing communication plan for CES/SAS;
Establishing suitable communication structures from front office to back office and vice versa;
Analysing visitors' behaviour to design attractive and effective websites, and using your expertise to help colleagues with the day-to-day management of these websites;
Contributing to the marketing communication for events and projects, such as Let's Go, the Informality Marketing and Open Days, in order to increase the visibility of internationalization on campus;
Working independently on the development of multimedia communication tools, and writing SEO proof creative texts, for example for the SAS newsletter, which is distributed university-wide;
You have a good understanding of the field and are socially competent, which makes you a good discussion partner for CES, SAS, faculties and the Marketing & Communication department. You are aware of developments within the University of Twente, and you promote professional cooperation in order to meet internationalization objectives.
Job Requirements
You have excellent social skills, are proactive, with a hands-on approach to work. You are in possession of a diploma from a university of applied sciences (preferably related to marketing communication) and have at least 3 years' work experience in an customer (student preferably) oriented environment;
You have an excellent command of both Dutch and English (and are in possession of certificates or other evidence to prove this);
You have proven experience in using customer journey (mapping), to improve student-oriented marketing communication, and you keep a close eye on developments in the field;
You have a good understanding of administrative relations, and are able to function effectively in a complex organization. Therefore good social skills are essential, as is organization sensitivity.
You can work independent and enterprising, and possess excellent analytical skills which enable you to understand and oversee complex information flows;
You know how to analyse (online) data to realize for further online improvements, you are excellent at writing SEO proof English content, and have experience with CMS, MS Office and Adobe;
You are able to translate a vision into a concrete plan, and take great satisfaction in realizing it;
You have proven experience in project-based and results-oriented work, and in helping to develop original and appealing marketing communication tools and activities.
Salary and Benefits
A full-time contract (38 hours a week) provisionally for a period of a year, but with potential contract renewal thereafter. The gross salary is min. €2.514,- and max. €3.358,- (scale 8) depending on education and experience, and based on full-time employment. The salary is based on the university job profile Communications Officer 2;
