The World Wide Packets, LE-3xx LightningEdge Access Concentrators provide
Ethernet connectivity to buildings and residences that are connected to the
provider's fiber infrastructure, delivering high-speed voice, video, and data
connectivity. The LE-3xx supports up to 24 subscriber connections via 100 Mbps
SFP Ethernet ports (LE-307, LE-317, LE-327) or 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet ports
(LE-311/311v). All models of LE-3xx Concentrators provide uplink services
using four 1000BASE-X, small form factor pluggable (SFP), single mode fiber
Ethernet links. All four Gigabit uplink ports on LE-3xx concentrators can be
active at a time. The LE-3xx also provides one 10/100 Mbps port for local
management.
The LE-3xx is designed to work in concert with the other members of the
LightningEdge family (LE Access Portals, other LE Access Concentrators,
LE Access Distributors, and the LE Network Supervisor) to deliver complete,
integrated service offerings from a single provider or multiple providers. LE-3xx
Access Concentrators are specifically designed to aggregate subscribers, either
directly connected using an LE Access Portal or another aggregation device such
as another Concentrator. The LE-3xx incorporates advanced QoS capabilities,
flexibility through pluggable optics, superior multicast control, manageability,
and a small form factor chassis to present the industry's leading fiber-to-thebuilding
solution.
The LE-3xx Access Concentrator's primary function is to lower the overall cost
of building out a fiber network. The LE-3xx can be connected upstream to an
Access Distributor, where services enter the network via direct connections or
other network infrastructure such as a metro ring. This allows the network to
be built using fewer individual upstream fiber runs and utilizes only short fiber
drops to individual subscribers as they sign up for.
