Functieomschrijving

Do you motivate others so they can do their work well? Do you have leadership skills and an overview of planning? Then come and work at Gouweleeuw!

Your role
Spider in the web
You are the one who keeps an overview, monitors planning, and can connect and motivate employees. As production manager, you are responsible for the 45 employees and for everything from preliminary work to arranging transport for delivery. At the location where you work, cranes are sprayed from small to large. Projects have a lead time of around 15 working days, making planning and logistics essential to you. In this role, you will be at the heart of the family business, continuously managing and supervising the employees and the associated logistics planning. Gouweleeuw has a spacious hall and its own means of transport, which you will deploy efficiently to ensure the correct flow of paintwork.

You manage employees who have a lot of experience and have been with the company for years, and some of the employees are temporary workers. The owner makes the longer-term and detailed weekly planning. In the first year, you will be trained by the operational director so that you will eventually be able to make the weekly planning yourself and guarantee quality. You know how to combine the interests of management and employees in a connecting manner.

Your working day
As production manager, you are visible on the shop floor and involved in personnel and planning. At 8 o'clock in the morning, you divide the day's work among the employees and create an overview so that each person is working in the right place. You take into account colleagues' experience, project priorities and optimal use of the hall. Between 8 and 10 am, you make sure that all logistic operations take place; all cranes are in the right place, materials are there and information boards are up to date. This is the most important moment of the day to ensure that everything runs smoothly for the rest of the day. You know how to motivate people and get them to do what they do best.

Once everyone is up and running, it's time for you to take up other things, such as analysing processes. What goes well, what can be improved? What are we running into, and what is needed? Around noon, you take stock of whether there are any pending issues from that day among the employees. Was the paint job done correctly, are any parts missing, are we on schedule? You make timely adjustments so that work processes continue. You check and assure the quality of the work done. At the end of the afternoon, you make sure your planning for the following day has been worked out and inform your colleagues what is expected of them.
You conduct application and performance interviews with the employees and maintain contact with companies that have outsourced work, including blasting and polishing.

During your work, you show exemplary behaviour in cleanliness and safety, so that you can see at a glance how work is progressing in the hall.

Personal characteristics
The saying 'firm but fair' suits you. You are unifying and at the same time incisive in your communication. You are naturally optimistic, positive and above all proactive in your cooperation. You can give clear and unambiguous instructions, while having an open attitude that makes people approach you easily and directly if there is something wrong. You respect the different backgrounds and cultures of employees and know how to deal with them. You also respect the experience of your colleagues, and know how to motivate them - technically - to achieve the same goals together. Painting is a specialised profession and through your people skills, you know how to combine the competences of employees and how to assess which colleagues can reinforce each other best. You understand the language of a family business, are stress-resistant and can deal well with different interests from management or employees. As a spider in the web, your drive is to work together in a positive, solution-oriented and flexible way.
