Our premium branded SD cards come pre-loaded with NOOBS (New Out Of Box Software) for the Raspberry Pi. Compatible with both model A and model B and the new Raspberry Pi2 (important: some of the additional operating systems may not work with the Pi2- see below). The original Pi takes the standard SD card and the new Pi2 takes the Micro SD format.
This card has an adapter to allow use of either card. The included versions of RaspBMC and OpenELEC only works with the original Pi due to differing builds (if in doubt, please ask). RaspBMC has been replaced by OSMC which I can supply as a standalone operating system instead.
The card comes personally tested, formatted and ready to start using your Raspberry Pi! Just plug in the SD card to your Pi and you are ready to choose which OS you would like to install.
The following operating systems are pre-loaded onto NOOBS, which include desktop (GUI) styles such as Raspbian, Media centre styles such as RaspBMC and super-fast and basic console based systems. Raspbian - The recommended OS for the Pi RaspBMC - Media centre software optimized for the Pi (now superseded by OSMC) Pidora - Fedora remix optimized for the Pi RiscOS - Good for users to experiment and tinker. OpenELEC - Media centre software ArchLinux - Simple and powerful for competent Linux users During your first boot, you will be prompted with each operating system that can be installed. Select which you wish to install and the free space you will have on your card. You can also select whether you need to install a data partition.
If you choose the wrong operating system or corrupt it, it does not matter, just hold down shift when booting next time and you can reselect a fresh install of an operating system, as NOOBS remains resident on your card after installing operating systems.
